Essential Oils for Equine Thrush

Essential Oils for Equine Thrush is a blog post that I decided to write because so many people are having problems with thrush because of the incredibly wet year we are having all over the world.   If you own a horse or horses, you know how hard it can be to get rid of thrush, especially when conditions are wet all the time.  Thrush can be a mild annoyance or develop into a serious condition that can cause lameness.  When conditions are wet, bacteria grows and causes thrush to develop.  Keeping your horse from standing in wet conditions is ideal, but sometimes (like this year) when nothing seems to ever dry out, they end up standing in wet pastures and muddy conditions and can develop some serious cases of thrush.

That brings me to a very inexpensive and effective solution using essential oils – and the best part about using essential oils is:  there are no harmful side effects!  Melissa Shelton, DVM, writes in her Animal Desk Reference (an essential oils reference book for animals) that the first recommendation is to apply Thieves essential oil blend neat (undiluted) to the affected hoof area, 2-4 times a day, or as needed.

Let’s look at what is in this amazing oil blend, and you will see why it works.   It contains: Clove oil, which is one of the most antimicrobial, antiseptic, antifungal, antiviral and anti-infectious of all essential oils.  Thieves oil blend also contains Lemon oil, which is antiseptic and promotes circulation, leukocyte formation and lymphatic function.  Another oil in the Thieves blend is Cinnamon bark, which is one of the most powerful antiseptics known and is strongly antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal.  The next oil is Eucalyptus radiata, which is anti-infectious, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory.  And the last oil in the Thieves blend is Rosemary, which is also antiseptic and antimicrobial.

So, as you can see, this one essential oil blend called Thieves, is an amazing tool for getting rid of bacteria and other microbes that can develop because of Equine Thrush.

How do you get this amazing oil blend?  Easy – you can purchase it at retail, or get a wholesale account and save 24% just by going HERE and clicking on the Order Now button – then choose whether you want to purchase at retail or become a distributor (no, you don’t have to distribute anything) and buy at wholesale.  Questions?  Contact Jackie.
